Educators
agree that including an outdoor educational component to a regular
curriculum is sorely needed. Environmental components and physical
activity in the school curriculum is crucial for a generation
raised on computers and video games who have had few opportunities
to experience, or connect to, the outdoors. Incorporating
Children's Gardens into the curriculum will
enhance student attention span and creativity, develop critical
thinking and decision making skills, and improve social
interaction. Our Butterfly Garden allows students to study how
the butterfly interacts with flowers, learn its role in nature,
while spending time outdoors in the fresh air. The satisfaction
that a butterfly garden affords students while learning about
plant-animal interactions, is becoming increasingly popular for
all ages. The Children's Vegetable Garden
will allow children to learn about planting, seeing vegetables grow,
and watching the resident chickens do their part in the growing
cycle. Our "Green Thumbs" club
will strike a balance between
student activity and
mother nature. It is wonderful to see how a green campus allows a
child to bloom in all areas of life.
