The early
years of a child are undoubtedly the richest, thus, it is
necessary to cultivate this time with the utmost care and
attention. Observing a child between the ages of three and five,
you will see that he is at constant play, meaning that the child
is working out, making conscious, something that his unconscious
mind has earlier absorbed. Through this game and play, the child
explores, creates, and thoroughly examines endless possibilities
and problems, which through the virtue of experience, the child
learns a task and activity which helps develop sense perception,
cognitive skills, and overall manipulative skills.
The
Montessori Classroom is divided into five main areas of study;
Practical Life, Mathematics, Language, Sensorial and Culture.
The Montessori Curriculum builds literacy and numerical
skills through manipulation of specially designed learning
material under the guidance of Montessori trained teachers. It
focuses on the child's creative potential, self confidence,
motivation to learn, and the drive to work independently while
respecting other students. It also emphasizes development of
initiative and sense perception through physical freedom and self
help instructional material.
